Plant perennials that slugs and snails won’t be interested in eating. Your plants can be destroyed by slugs and snails overnight. Some perennials, however, leave a bad taste in slugs’ mouths or are difficult to chew through because their leaves aren’t tender. Consider planting these varieties of perennials to discourage slugs and snails from eating your flowers. Euphorbia and achillea are examples of slug-proof perennials.

While working in your garden during the fall season, watch out for those stink bugs! Stinkbugs are most prevalent on tomatoes, beans and peppers. If kept unchecked they can certainly do a ton of a damage to your garden so you should do what you need to to reduce their population.

Do you want fresh mint leaves without having to worry about them growing too quickly? Rein their growth; you can do this simply by planting mint inside a larger garden container or pot. If you would like, go ahead and plant the container and the plant right in the ground to prevent root overtake.

Cover fences and walls with lots of climbers. Many climbers are so robust that they can cover an unattractive wall or fence in a single growing season. They can be trained to grow over an arbor, or through trees and shrubs that are already in the garden. Some varieties of these plants will have to be tethered to some sort of support, but other varieties will be able to attach to the medium they are climbing. Excellent varieties include honeysuckle, wisteria, jasmine, climbing roses and clematis.
